Alone in the Wilderness

Alone in the Wilderness

Oh!! I am so thirsty. I cannot speak...my tongue is sticking to the roof of my mouth. Oh!! I am hungry. I will die... are some words said, when one is lonely in a desert. I have gone through, such a situation long, long back  in my life; but not for food or water it was spiritual hunger... in the wilderness of my life. I guess, if any of you have experienced loneliness in the wilderness.
Feeling of emptiness and alone, is when our situation lies,  just contrary to the one we expect to live .. In my life when I was  sympathizing myself, with the weakness and limitations I possessed, that is the time; I started searching God...to get an answer for all my queries , just like a deer searching for  water to satisfy his thirst.

Hunger and thirst, are two of the most basic appetites we have. We can stay without food, for may be maximum 3 days but we can't stay without water, for more than 2 days. Water a very, very essential component of our life. This is quite normal which God made. When we are dehydrated our physical body longs for water same way a spiritual emptiness will bring us close to God.

When there is no resting place or a comfort zone that is the time for you to run like a deer longing for fresh water. As a deer looks around while lapping the water we too look on our situations which happened. I experienced God's presence when I was alone in the wilderness but I have a hope from our living God to make all my situations pass through joyfully.

Famous Quote: You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intution. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself... By Alan Alda

As the Deer panteth after the river brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God...Psalms 42:1

Quiet Time with God.

Quiet time with God
In this hustle and bustle of life, we all are eager to have a solitary time with our  God. As it is said by Edmond Mbiaka.." The true quality of your life,  can only be determined by, how you, frequently feel when you are alone". Quiet time is needed by every individual in any phase of your life.

Find God, in the quiet moment. The world where we live, there is noise wherever we go, in our homes ,workplace, in market place, in park etc ...It's very necessary to find a solitary place, away from the distractions of worldly noise to get peace within. That's the time when you can reflect yourselves, and can  have a quality time with God. This “quiet time” is a disconnection from external distractions in order to connect with God.

When we sit nearby a lake, in solitary away from the distractions, that's the time we can reflect our bygone time. The water reflects our face and when we throw a stone the ripples in the water takes us to our past memories of life; the tough time which we encountered and how God lifted us. During our quiet time, we can sing praise songs, pray, read Scripture or daily devotions, meditate on God's Word, or simply be still and listen to what God has to speak.

Some studies, has even found out that  silence restores the nervous system, it even helps to sustain energy, and even generate new cells in the hippo campus.
Rather it's difficult to prioritize, quiet time with God.
But we can think the difficult moments of the life, how God helped you, so that, when the days are tough you can think those moments, when God was near you and be happy.

Instruments in God's Hand

Instruments in God's Hand

God has a reason, to allow certain things in life. How much ever we break our mind thinking, why it happened to me ?The questions keep rotating in my head.

Nothing happens in our lives without His perfect plan. He has a purpose in our  lives. God  told me" that I am a powerful instrument in His hands", and that He will use my abilities to do great work. I got a big relief from my questions and in fact I smiled and submitted to Him.

We all are different instruments in God's hand. Just like if we go for an orchestra, we see different instruments like Drums, Piano, Flute, Harmonium, Violin, Guitar, Tambourine etc will be there. Each having different  size, shape, sound but all are sweet to be heard.
It's the hand which plays it sweetly, in the same way we each are; some can help, some can pray, some can comfort, some can teach etc..even though some may be weak, some strong, but all can do great things for God. We are instruments in the hands of God. Be it a male or female we all are a powerful instrument in God's mighty, skillful and creative hands. As God's instrument we together can become a family of God.
"You are an instrument of God. Don't leave the instrument sitting in its case, my son. Play! Leave no part of your instrument unexplored". By Abraham Varghese

Overcoming Stress

Overcoming stress

Are you burdened, and heavy-laden with the worries of this life ? Stressed out with sickness, work, family environment, lost friendship, broken relations, too many responsibilities..?
Problems and troubles come into one's life to make the person perfect, and  when our circumstances, spin out of control, we feel stressed. Everyone faces stress in one way or another. The pressures of life are unavoidable. We face all sorts of pressures. Stress can create a havoc in our health. Nervous breakdowns can be seen, which can wear us down physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It can  even cause you to backslide  from God ..
A short story to understand better: Once a psychologist was teaching stress management .He raised a glass of water and asked, “How Heavy is this Glass of Water?"“This absolute weight of glass doesn’t matter. What matter is how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute it’s not going to be problem. If I have to hold it for an hour then i will feel ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, My arm will feel numb and paralyzed.
In all the cases the weight of glass doesn’t change, but longer if I hold heavier it becomes.”He continued..“Similar are stress and worries. If you think about them for a while, Nothing happens.
If you think about them a bit longer, they hurt and if you think about them all day long, you feel like paralyzed or incapable of doing anything.”
You can overcome stress if you follow these points: Recognize the reason for stress, Give a short break, Meditate on God and Pray, Thank and praise God, Have a gathering with your family and friends, Be happy.
When stress come you should trust in the almighty. Consider it joy when you fall in various trials and temptations. God is at your right hand. Don't be moved.

Stay calm and look forward with faith to overcome stress.

Pain and Struggle

Pain and Struggle
15 years ago, when I was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis, my first  thought was "Why me God" ? It was this thought that brought me closer to God and the, shaped me into a better person.

God has a reason for our pain and struggle. Today, I am happy with my life and I am thankful for the struggles I endured,  If God would not have given me these pain and struggles in my life, I believe I would not be, who I am today. I am happy today with the life I live, and the people I am surrounded  with. I was motivated by the beautiful story of a butterfly.
Once a man watched a cocoon. He knew that the beautiful butterfly comes from an ugly cocoon. He saw the cocoon with a tiny opening and decided to watch what happens. He saw the butterfly struggling to break the shell for several hours. It was not able to get out thru that small opening, suddenly it stopped making more effort it seemed as it was stuck.

Now, this man wanted to help the butterfly, took a pair of scissors and snipped off the bit of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily, but it had swollen body and small shrunken wings. The man sat for quite long time waiting for the wings to enlarge. But that did not happen. The butterfly spent the rest of its life unable to fly, crawling around .
Thus we can see the man had a kind heart but he didn't understand that the cocoon need struggle, so as to shape into a beautiful butterfly.
It's God's way, of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so, that it can fly once it is out of the cocoon. Without struggles, we will never grow strong.

I do not know the specific purpose, but I know one thing that God is in control. The pain we suffer might be for a purpose, might be to prepare us for something great. In life nothing comes out beautiful without struggle.
